Release & Rebirth with Rubi Vergara-Grindell

Herbal & Ancestral Support During Times of Transformation

Location: Coming Soon

Sat Oct 10, 11am-3pm

What to expect

Drawing from traditional postpartum care and curanderismo, we will explore how to support our bodies and spirits during times of transformation (death, (re)birth, and beyond). We will learn about plants, practices and stories that can help us navigate change in ourselves and our community.

Key Learning Goals

(1) Learn two traditional practices to help support yourself & others during times of change, loss, and growth

(2) Connect with three plants supportive of postpartum and other transformations

(3) Listen to and share stories of deities/energies who have affinities for metamorphosis

Rubi Vergara-Grindell (she/they/ella) is a community herbalist and practitioner of curanderismo (Mesoamerican folk medicine). They are queer and mixed (Mexican and white) and grew up on Kalapuya land in Oregon with ancestral roots in Mexico (Central & La Paz), Ireland and Scotland.

Rubi gives thanks to nuestra madre tierra Tonantzin, her teacher Maestra & Curandera Estela Román and her ancestors who practiced land-based healing. Rubi honors the call of her lineages by supporting children to elders in connecting with their ancestral medicines and deeply believes we heal in connection. Rubi offers traditional postpartum care through a collaborative project called Inatzin's Warmth. She is fluent in Spanish.
