6. Roots and Syrups with lara pacheco

Roots and Syrups with lara pacheco

Supporting our systems and deepening with Attabeira in preparation for Winter's rest

Location: Private address in NE Portland’s Cully neighborhood

Sun Sept 27, 11am-3pm

What to expect

In this workshop, we will actively harvest some roots in the garden to be washed, and cut to dry while we heat up some roots to mix with honey and medicine to take home. We will ground in a visualization meditation with some demulcent tea, make offerings to the plants and land, and share ways we can support ourselves in this seasonal transition. lara will share perspectives of their own ancestral lineage and in relation to being on the red road.

Key Learning Goals

(1) connecting with the seasons through the elements,
(2)connecting with the land and medicine through ritual,
(3) learning different properties of plants to help us in a time of deep imbalance

lara pacheco is a Bori Taíno, Latinx, NGC and queer mamita that holds privilege with their light skin and hetero-presenting marriage. lara is a bridge builder mystic, a sañadore, a liberation acupuncturist, a qi gong practitioner that believes part of our collective liberation is accessed through decolonizing ourselves, and weaving into the web of ancestral medicine. lara directly works through this realm with plants, fungi, puppets, music and dance.
